Job Description

This California-based law practice is seeking a Senior Litigator to manage a varied caseload with a strong emphasis on employment-related litigation and counseling. The role also includes work in additional civil litigation practice areas. Candidates should have at least five years of experience, strong knowledge of employment law, and proven litigation skills. Experience representing public entities or handling public sector employment matters is helpful but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Represent public and private clients in employment and general civil litigation
* Oversee all stages of litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, oral argument, settlement efforts, and trial preparation
* Advise clients on issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, wrongful termination, and other employment matters under state and federal law
* Conduct or supervise workplace investigations and prepare findings or recommendations
* Draft and update employment policies, handbooks, and compliance materials
* Prepare and argue writ petitions and handle administrative appeals
* Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop effective litigation strategies and case management plans
* Perform additional related duties as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities
* Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior attorneys and staff

Required Skills and Abilities
* Strong understanding of California and federal employment and labor laws
* Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, and communication skills
* Ability to independently manage complex litigation while working effectively within a team
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
* High level of professionalism, judgment, and attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively with public-sector clients and stakeholders

Education and Experience
* Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
* Minimum of five years of litigation experience in California, with a focus on employment law
* Trial experience preferred
* Experience with writs of mandate and appellate matters preferred
